Question: Do men get paid more than women because of their gender?
Blog Response:
Throughout the course of my career, women have been treated unfairly because of their gender. People have been mistaken to think that because we are not as strong and big like men, girls can’t do work that guys does. Also when it comes to making money women make less income than men. I think that is unfair because women work as hard as men do at their jobs. This whole gender thing has not been heard of until a senator who opposed racial integration made a last minute change to amendment. On April 8, Equal Pay Day, symbolizing how far into the current year that women must work to earn as much as men made in the past year, President Obama signed two executive actions to help correct the pay gap. Kerri Sleeman testified in a hearing before the U.S. Senate, urging them to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act. Even though some women might not care if they get paid because of their husband makes so much money other women might care a lot. For example if she has a kid and her husband left her to take care of him, she needs the paycheck to take care of her family. I also did not like how women back then were not able to vote because of our gender. It really frustrates me that men power women over stuff like that.
Women can be treated unfairly just because of their gender. It’s human nature because if the world is at peace one person just needs to start something again that will cause the world to rile up. Out of all things it had to be about women. It’s not just one woman but all the women in the U.S, the whole nation of us. Is it because men rule the world or something? If that’s the reason why can’t women rule for once. I know men can have more physical strength than women and that they get paid more. For example in sports men get paid over 1 million dollars playing national sports. There are not a lot of national sports for women and we don’t get paid as much either for playing nation sports. We get half the money as men do playing sports. I dislike the day where one guy who happens to be a senator made that rule and men agreed with him and even encouraged it. We really should have more respect. We are all equal. We all are human and the one thing that tells us men and women apart is our gender. There is barely and difference between us. I just hope one day men will understand this and overcome their pride of being men. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of men who tried to protect women’s rights but I wish there would be a lot more than a few.
